Most recently I have been fascinated by the idea of “DO Pause”.
Some people might think about pausing as “to be off” in terms of being disconnected and unavailable. For some days, like now, over Christmas and NYE. But are these people really off(line)? The idea of DO Pause would likely be completely against their understanding of productivity, success and constant availability. Most people, therefore, consider pauses as waste of time and money.
As soon as the pause happens, the magic reveals itself.
On the contrary, I have experienced prosperity while pausing. Taking a mindful break offers me “to be in”. To be fully in with myself and “to be connected”. While pausing I am also more available to myself and my being. This means:
I can reset and I am regenerating
I deepen my thinking and experiences
I take back control of my time
I can reconnect with other people — and myself
And the cool thing is: it does not really matter how long you pause! Rob Poynton, in his book “DO Pause”, outlines different kinds of pauses. Tiny pauses, where you hold still for 30 seconds before you enter your home. And bigger pauses. 3 Days of Reading or even pausing for a year. As a facilitator he masters the art of creating space and trusting that out of the pause something valuable emerges.
